| Konohagakure (木ノ葉隠れの里, Konohagakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden by Tree Leaves"; also known as "Village Hidden by the Leaves" or "Hidden Leaf Village") is the hidden village of the Land of Fire. As one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, Konohagakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Hokage. There have been five official Hokage, the most recent being Tsunade. On a mountain overlooking the village from the north exists the Hokage Monument. Although Konoha which is known as the most powerful village possessing an elite shinobi army corps,[1] much like the country in which it resides, has been relatively peaceful since the end of the Third Shinobi World War. The shinobi from this village seem to be proficient in Fire Release techniques.

| The treacherous forest of the leaf has always been an exciting and dangerous place. It is full of dangerous monsters and beasts, as well as hidden treasures and secrets. It is an excellent place for the young shinobi to test out their skills, as it is where part of the Chunin Exams are held when Konoha hosts.

| The grasslands are a series of open fields located all around Konoha, they are mainly located at border areas between the Land of Fire and other countries. Basically, these grasslands signify the change from one climate to another. They often overlook small rivers or ponds, and are slightly hilly. Quite a few of Konoha's training grounds are located here.

| Sunagakure (砂隠れの里, Sunagakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden by Sand") is the hidden village of the Land of Wind. As one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, Sunagakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Kazekage, who resides in a spherical structure in the center of the village. There have been five Kazekage, the most recent being Gaara. Wind Release is seemingly more common amongst shinobi of this village than most others. The Puppet Technique, and from their performance in the Fourth Shinobi World War, the Cloth Binding Technique also seem to be common techniques of theirs. Shinobi from this village believe that the accomplishment of a mission predominates the lives of the ninja trying to accomplish it. As such, they are known to be ruthless in battle meaning to them, failure is not an option.

| Sunagakure is surrounded by a seemingly endless desert that every shinobi must cross in order to get to the village. It is extremely strenuous and dangerous to pass through, and therefore should not be attempted by the faint of heart. It is rumored that some "ghost puppets" and other sneaky sand creatures lurk underneath the sand, so watch out for sneak attacks! You never know what might get ya!

| Kirigakure (霧隠れの里, Kirigakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden by Mist") is the shinobi village located in the Land of Water. As one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, Kirigakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Mizukage. There have been five Mizukage, the last one being Mei Terumi all the way back in the days of the Fourth Great Shinobi War. Since then, the village has gone without a kage. An unusually high number of missing-nin seem to originate from this village and as such a unique classification of ANBU known as hunter-nin are specifically tasked with eliminating these defectors. The shinobi from this village are very proficient with water release techniques.

| Four islands surround the Village hidden in the mist. Each one is known to be extremely dangerous hideouts for those rogue shinobi and assassins of the Hidden Mist. While not being legally or officially part of the hidden mist, everyone still considers it that. It is home to those brave Hidden Mist shinobi and fearsome criminals all around the world. Oko, the island to the right of the Hidden Mist, contains the Hidden Mist prison. Yuko, the island to the left of the Hidden Mist, is barren, with sandy gravel throughout and small forests covering the foggy landscape. Many criminals hide out there. Kako, the island far behind Kirigakure, is rumored to be a treasure trove of past Akatsuki memorials, as well as a couple Konohagakure shinobi. It is just as barren as Yuko, however, with far fewer shinobi occupying it. And last but not least, Sako, which is the island off to the north east of Kirigakure. It has small watch towers around the perimeter, and is sometimes used for political affairs in Kirigakure.

| Kumogakure (雲隠れの里, Kumogakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden by Clouds") is the hidden village of the Land of Lightning. As one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, Kumogakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Raikage. Use of lightning release techniques and swords seem to be common of ninja from this village.

| These mountains are high up in the clouds, most peaks actually being above the clouds. They were named the Thunder Alps for the loud claps of thunder that can constantly be heard by anyone who travels there. While not all are difficult to climb, quite a few are. To reach the peek of these mountains, one must have some sort of oxygen mask or strong lung training. Otherwise, it takes much longer to climb.

| These forests are located at the border between the Lightning Country and its only land neighbor, eventually reaching even the Land of Earth. Like its name says, this area is made out of large trees which are resistant to high temperatures and hot climate conditions. These forests contain ape like monsters and other jungle creatures.

| Iwagakure (岩隠れの里, Iwagakure no Sato; "Hidden Stone Village"; Literally meaning "Village Hidden by Rocks") is the hidden village of the Land of Earth. As one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, Iwagakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Tsuchikage. Iwagakure is well-known for the rock-hard attitude of its shinobi; as soon as the Tsuchikage gives an order, the Iwa-nin do so without hesitation, even if it means death. These shinobi often specialize in Earth Style jutsu due to the terrain they face.

| Several large cliffs surround Iwagakure and make it slightly difficult for shinobi who don't know the terrain to get around. Some of these cliffs stand very tall and take odd formations, making it almost maze-like to get through. Only Iwa-nin or shinobi with extensive knowledge of the land can navigate these with ease.

| The Land of Sound (音の国, Oto no Kuni) is a neighbor country of the Land of Fire. It is a relatively new country in the political scene, though it has existed for some time under the name of the Land of Rice Fields (田の国, Ta no Kuni; English TV "Land of Rice Paddies"). They have been able to establish a small governement, their kage being called the Noizukage.

| Amegakure (雨隠れの里, Amegakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden by Rain") is a small, yet highly industrialised hidden village located in the Land of Rain. Its architecture is composed of several metallic skyscrapers with rowed ducts connected to them and mazy power lines surmounting. A number of smaller villages also surround Amegakure. As its name suggests, it rains almost constantly due to a storm above the village. There are many ninja who are skilled genjutsu users. It is a hidden village that one by one raises the ability of its shinobi, in turn working out original techniques. They also developed assassination techniques, getting numerous requests from foreign countries because of this before the Fourth Great Shinobi War.

| Kusagakure (草隠れの里, Kusagakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden in the Grass") is located in a thus far Forest Country. The country is rich with forests, some consisting of giant mushrooms or bamboo. It also seems to have many rivers and deep ravines. Kusagakure is skilled in diplomacy, a trait they constantly use to read the movements of other countries and stay one step ahead of them. They also analyse techniques from other villages in a similar manner. Because of these principles others find it hard to read the shinobi from this village's attitudes.
